Just had a bit of luck today. I just bought a used Manfrotto 079 monopod for $20. What a steal! Apparently it's the "professional" model (says so right on it! lol) so this is even better.
My stars were lined up, Joseph. I just happened to spot it at the right time, I guess. I'm still waiting for the Benro model I ordered from Linkdelight.com. I'll compare the two when it gets here, see which one I want to keep.
OK.......got the new Benro monopod today in the mail. Looks great. I've enclosed 2 shots of the both of them, side by side, open and closed, to show the differences. View attachment 2126View attachment 2127
Nice find you go there Jack.
Even if the 079 is more or less a 20 year old model, being replaced the by the 679, its still up to recent standards.
Manfrottos are like the Mercedes Benz of tripods and monopods. They last longer than other brands.
Now get a remote trigger (either wired or not), mount your camera to it, and lift it in the air. It's an interesting way to get an aerial view of things.
