Car show in Little Italy

These photos were taken a few weeks back when the F1 was in town. They were taken with my D7100 and 18-105. Unfortunately, they are scaled down from the original file zize, so the full resolution just is not there. I am sure there are better ways to take photos of cars, but this at least got me out and thinking.

Thanks. I tried a few shots of some brake calipers on a Ford GT, but they did not come out as I thought they may - I think I just did not have the right angles.

Do you have any suggestions on what to concentrate on when shooting cars?

That is entirely subjective. I take all types of shots, details like you posted above, overall shots at multiple angles depending on the vehicle. I try to capture items I find of interest.

Don't forget crowd shots, people enjoying the event etc.

I personally like bits and pieces like a tail light, a grill or a head light assembly. Something that is iconic for that car. Then I get to guess what model and year it is. Carguy had it right. All sorts of shots including the crowds enjoying the cars.
