Nikon 105mm f2.8 VRI lens
I just wanted to start a thread for this lens which I happen to acquire recently. I don't know why I didn't get it much sooner but I'm glad I did. I'll be adding more images as I use it more often. Not really for macro work but close to it and for flower shots.
Feel free to share your experience and images taken with this lens.

Hummingbird Hawk-moth, it flies like a humming bird but is actually a moth just like any butterfly, it used to be a caterpillar. Its size is less than two inches.

The "new" 105 is about the only Nikkor I have not studied yet. I'm scared of it because it will AF! LOL
Wouldn't it be something if they came out with a fast 105 G???
I am just going to guess that the only way I would ever use such a lens is for a head and shoulders portrait from about 2 or 3 meters away or a close up macro from a distance of a meter or 2...somewhere in there. Nothing else.
FX of course...

Like I said I haven't studied the late model 105's. f2 is definitely fast enough for the sensors made now. f2 with a 135 is impressive.
I was just looking at your snaps again...the lens does draw very good just like you would expect a 105 to do. I look forward to seeing more photos you made with this one Glenn hopefully some portrait stuff.Last edited by Eye-level; 11-19-2012 at 08:38 AM.
