Hi, new to the forum. Would like some feed back. Bought Nikkor 24mm f2.8 AF-D lens from ebay for my D7000 with 14 day return, have another 3 or 4 days to return it. When I got the lens, I tried close ups around the house, seemed okay, maybe some slight back focus. But started to notice the focus at subjects near or at infinity in center of frame was way off in a number of shots. Started to compare the 24mm infinity shots with an old 28 mm f3.5 AI lens I had. Set up test switching between the 2 lenses for the same subject, distance, f-stop (3.5) and shutter speed at infinity focus, the 28 mm was way sharper. Started to mess around with auto focus fine tune, wound up having to set -20 to get the 24mm lens to match and exceed the older 28mm when both were at f3.5. Results are definitely acceptable now, but should I return this lens and look for better example?

I think I would. That is too far off the Mark to be acceptable.
