So I've just brought this lens after reading some really good reviews about it on various other forums and websites etc... My friend has asked me to take some natural photos at her wedding in April! Nothing professional just ones throughout the day of little things.

Would this be a good lens to use throughout the day as all my other lens' aren't really appropriate??

Thanks! :)

Great lens..But not sure if it will give you enough reach...

I'm trying to out off buying another lens if I can because I'll only need it for 1 day. I only have my kit lens (18-55mm), Nikon 35mm and Sigma 70-300mm

Depends on how much access she is giving you..Is there a professional photographer for the wedding?

Like Shoot Raw said, may not have enough reach depending on what you're doing. Can you be a little more descriptive as to what things you will be shooting?

Just stuff in the reception room after the ceremony. Mainly like natural photos of the day. I'll just be walking round capturing the moments so to speak if that helps? ...

You should be fine then..A nice light set up that will work great for portraits on a dx camera..Love my 50mm 1.8g....

Tough one. The 18-55 will give you width, whilst the 70-300 will give you the candid shots. Personally I'd take those two, but then I'm so not a professional and so not a portrait snapper. I have decided I am an opportunist, which is why I think I bought the 18-300 as it gives me flexibility.

I'll take my camera bag with everything in anyway just wanted to get a few opinions first. Thanks! :)

Nice lens but if you're using a DX body it will be too close in at times. A 35 mm is more use. I was at a wedding a couple of years ago with a 35mm on my DX body and found that was too close in at times.

Yep, didn't like my 35mm too much,so I sold it and got the 28mm 1.8g..If I buy the 24mm-70mm 2.8g, the 28mm is goin up for sale..

If I could only choose one of my lenses to take to an event, such as you are going too, I would choose the 50mm f/1.8. Just remember it will give you the effective field of view of a 75mm on a DX camera. Perfect for portrait. Sharp as a tack and nice bokeh when wide open.
