I can shoot the 6 exposures per second with the viewfinder but when I switch to live view I cannot, it shoots at a slower rate, what am I doing wrong?

Welcome.
You are not doing anything wrong. Live view is a special mode and not ideal for everyday shooting for those who enjoy a DSLR camera. When you take shots in viewfinder mode, the mirror raises and the shutter opens and closes after the shutter time. Nice and quick, normal SLR camera behavior. In live view the the mirror is up and the shutter is open to expose the sensor full time for live view. You snap a picture and the shutter closes. Then it opens for the selected shutter time, then closes to end the shutter time. Then the shutter opens to return to live view. Lots of clicking and if you check the shutter count, you will see two counts are used for a live view snap. It's never going to be as quick as viewfinder mode because of all the mechanical stuff going on.

Makes sense, thanks, I think I'm going to but the 7200 book for dummies, or David busch's book on the 7200, as I am a beginner to DSLR cameras

I bought the Busch book a few cameras back. If you are not already familiar with the basics of exposure, get familiar before you hit the books. I don't think Busch covers the basics of exposure, not sure about the Dummies book. You need to understand the relationship of shutter aperture and iso or the books and camera manual don't make much sense. If you take an hour or so to get those basics, you will have a much better time. The camera has great tools to achieve a good exposure, but if you don't understand all the 'why', you can get frustrated.
