I've read where anything that meets an ISO 12312-2 (or better) rating would be safe for viewing the sun, provided you looked away now and then.
My wife and I plan to drive down to Columbia SC. (or Charleston SC) for the August 21 eclipse, Both cities are well within the total eclipse zone.
I've ordered a Hoya Pro ND100000 Solar filter for the camera. It's listed as 16.5 stops., I've also ordered some glasses that meet that specific ISO spec.
Now my question..
I plan to have the D7200 on a tripod aimed at the sun and take a shot about once every 15 (or 30) seconds. Does anyone know if leaving the camera in Mirror up mode will damage the sensor. I'd like that to reduce camera shake when shooting.
Thanks
