Why is my camera timing out in bulb mode?? I have never had this problem before. I went out after 45 minutes to see if my picture turned out and the action timed out before hand. ????

Are you using a cable release and locking the shutter button down? Bulb mode will only shoot for as long as the shutter button is depressed or locked down.

I haven't tried bulb with the wireless remote, but with the cabled remote it has worked fine.

There are a few things that could interrupt the wireless remote: power save timeout, break in line of sight to the camera body, etc.

I will check both. Thanks. I can't remember if I used wireless.

Just tried my d7200 with the ml-l3 remote. Looks like one press on the remote for open in bulb mode and it stays open until you press again. No telling if there is hidden time limit though.

If the battery in the remote doesn't have a lot of juice, that might also affect it. But as you said, each remote might have its own limitations.

If the wired remote had a weak battery, that could cause it to drop out early. The battery in the wireless remote shouldn't affect it though. The ml-l3 just gives a one time brief signal. So in bulb mode, you should be able to open the shutter and then put the remote away. The remote does not give a continuous signal to hold the shutter open. The camera will just wait until it sees the remote again to toggle the shutter back closed. What I don't know is if the camera will time out at some point waiting for that to happen. I don't think I ever tried more than a minute or two. A aging camera battery could cause it to end early too. It might show a decent charge but be unable to keep the shutter open for 45 minutes without a hiccup.
