Going nuts here! (okay ... no more than normal)

Starting today my resized photographs have started to "self-destruct"

(above: An 800x600 grab example from the full sized 5652x4912 post production final. Nice and sharp ... as it should be!)

Now I go to resize the original so I can post it in 1600x1200 to wonderful sites like FB (and here, etc)

Whoopsie-daisy! Here is a grab from the same area of the 1600x1200 resize. I do this all the time and have NEVER lost my focus/resolution like this before!
I can resize from the original .NEF or a converted .jpg and the result is the same.
I can use Faststone ... ViewNX-i ... or Lightroom: same result.

In response to: "you're just blowing it up too far" ... I do this size reduction to 1600x1200 all the time and have never had this happen this bad before. I 'zoomed" the original .NEF file (and the .jpg file also) in Capture NX-D to 400% and it didn't fall apart like this. It pixelated a bit but one can still easily read the numbers on the lens rings.
Anybody have any ideas? I sure as the dickens can't figure it out!

So you reduced a 5652x4912 down to 800x600, and now need to enlarge that 800x600 to 1600 x 1200?

I think you'll want to go back to your original and reduce it to 1600x1200 rather than enlarge your modified 800x600 to the larger size.

Wha t RocketCowboy said. Never enlarge. Also the best size for Facebook is 1280 on the long side. That or 1000 on the long side is good for here. Anything larger and it will be reduced by the software with Facebook or Nikonites. Better you size correctly than let the websites reduce it. They will butcher it

Here is the 'fuzzy' reduction of the shot I was working with. (This was not meant for here) In the 5652x4912 original one can easily read the fine print on the cottage cheese container under the desk. But in this 1381x1200 resized reduction from the original you can barely figure out it is a cottage cheese container.
