Blurry Sport Pics

Hi, I'm new to the board. I have a Nikon D5100. I am trying to take pictures of my daughter's track meet events and all my pics come out blurry. I am using a Nikon zoom lens, the Nikkor 70-300mm to be exact. I am using the sport setting that shoots a series of pics in succession. Any help is greatly appreciated.
I also have the Nikkor 55-200mm lens and the Nikkor 18-55mm lens.

Typically the first thing to consider is your shutter speed. You should check out your shutter speed on the pics and let us know what they are. Posting some pics would be helpful as well with EXIF data. I'm thinking with a track meet you would want your shutter to be at least 1/500 of a second and ideally around 1/1000 of a second (as a starting point).

First off, howdy and welcome to Nikonites!

Second, as @PapaST said, if you can share a sample image or two with the EXIF data in place, we can probably provide more accurate advice versus guesses.

Welcome to the forum. Here is a guide on how to post a photo so that we can see the EXIF data. That will help us help you.

Guidelines to adding a photo to your post.

1. Resize photo to 1000px on the long side.
2. Resolution set to 72ppi (Pixels Per Inch)

These guidelines will be good for viewing on a computer but will not be good for printing. This will help safeguard your copyright.

Pictures please, but it will come down to focus method (use AF_C), shutter speed (easily north of 1/500 depending on shooting angle), and technique (smoothly following your target even after you press the shutter.)

Welcome to the site.
