Hello,

I am a new member. I am struggling significantly with my Nikon 5200 in terms of video. All of it turns out blurry. They are typically shot in darker settings for kids events such as concerts, etc. Am i missing the obvious and need to use a flash for video?? Help!!

Manual focus, baby! If your finger is not on the shutter button, the camera probably isn't auto-focusing. Also, auto-focusing while the video is running is very noisy, I've learned. DSLR video is not like Handycam video. Check out that other thread and another guy gives a great rundown of the difference.

Still, you can get GREAT video with your camera.

If you go with manual focus and pick up an inexpensive external mike from ebay or Amazon, you can solve your problems.
I've tried shooting video with a D5300 in Auto mode and auto focus and it works quite well. The external mike is isolated from the camera with little rubber bands so the internal noises in the camera aren't picked up on the clip.
