Interesting bee , rainbow wings.. is this common?

It had a greenish caste to it too.

No idea, for a good ID we would need to know your location etc ;)

I think the colours in the wings are caused by the light passing through them kind of like light passing through rain drops or a prism.

It just seemed to have iridescent wings..No matter the position. I'm in central Ohio here. I was looking on the insect sites and haven't found another like it yet.

You might want to look up Cuckoo bees. They imitate and look almost like the original. I found out about them when I shot a funny looking honey bee. Notice too when they are collecting pollen. The cuckoo bee just eats it while the other bees collect it on their body.
