This quote I think sums up the biggest hurdle in trying to make money in this industry.

The total estimate is $2,500. First, you know they will choke at a photographer asking for $2,000 for one day of work. They don’t make that much money, so why should you?

I can't say for sure, but after I clicked that link above I now have the large Best Buy HP ad showing up on the bottom of my screen. I would suggest staying away from that link.

People don't realize they are paying for more than just the shoot time. Look at the time a wedding photographer will spend before and after that day. It could be 80 hours of work for a $2500 wedding package. They also forget they are paying for a lot of experience/knowledge (hopefully!). They don't realize what it takes to get it right.

A pharmacist friend of mine once complained to me: People will wait 30 minutes for a pizza, but get mad if it takes 10 minutes to dispense medications that could kill them. It's just public ignorance.

We are a society that expects instant results. 30 mins for run of the mill problem... 1 hour if it is serious... they do it on TV every night. Computers make all this stuff instant, Right?
