Pied Heron

A pied heron taken at shady camp in NT, was hoping to see some salt water crocodiles but they were too shy.

Very nice shot. My one suggestion would be to have used a larger F stop such as F5.6 or maybe even F4 to make the Heron pop more and lessen the distracting background a bit, Jeff

I think a wider aprature may have made him or parts of him at least, unsharp judging by the narrow DOF in the pic.
Its somtimes nice to see the habitat too. I would prob like to see a little less background in this particular pic too but as is
often the case its sometimes just not possable. It may be poss to blur the background in PS though
At the end of the day its what you like that matters

You could always capture him an stick him down with a bit of glue in some nice shrubs for a nice backdrop !

As i posted for the other heron shot, give birds some room to look into, rather than crop them square and too tight. With space in the direction they are looking, it makes a much nicer and relaxed composition.
