Train from Above

HDR 3 shots +-2EV. f8, 1/250th, ISO 640. Nikon 70-300 vr @ 95mm

I like the angle you took on this one Rick where you can see the line of cars behind the engine. Nicely composed as well with the train bearing down on your on the right with the empty track along side on the left.

Thanks James! I was actually in my car parked down to the right as I was waitng for shots. This train backed into the yard and stopped to couple more cars further down. It then occured to me that the overpass would be a great vantage point, so I ran my ass off getting up there (the guys in the yard must think I'm nuts!). I ripped off about 15 shots using the railing as my tripod, it then started moving again. Thanks to auto-bracketing I got some good shots. The morning was looking like a bust until the last minute!

This is a great shot! I especially like the contrast between the blue of the first car and the rest of the landscape.

I'm going to have to figure out the bracketing feature on my camera that would help me out a lot...
