I have played with this a little and i do like the outcome although its just a pity my vantage point wasn't a little higher above the tree line, your thoughts?

Ok, here goes....the post processing left a lot of ghosting in the trees and ridge lines which in my opinion hurts the image. I might have done the composition either, dead center or more rule of thirds or possibly used the tree line as a leading line to the sun. Also, on my tablet, the sun appears less sharp than the foreground. If it isn't , I always try to make the subject sharp.
Hope that helps!

Ouch, ha, all I used was the drag down filter (adjusting clarity, temp, tone, contrast, etc) in LR so I think the ghosting is just mist and clouds unluckily positioned, and unfortunately I had to take the shot from a small window which did leave my options limited.

but I am a beginner very much in LR and ps so maybe I am lacking some technique and finesse still lol..

thanks for for you comments though, I'll have another go from scratch and see what I can do..

I certainly wasn't trying to inflict pain. lol I am learning each and every day and hearing or seeing what needs work and improvement has been far more valuable than the "at-a-boys".

Just from my own experience, I would say that the bright areas in the large trees and the first ridge at least are the result of post processing. You can probably improve it with an adjustment brush and lower exposure.

I responded because it's sometimes difficult to get opinions here. I think having your art judged is difficult, so judging others is too.
I look forward to seeing more of your photos!

Although i think the trees caused me more of an issue than id expected they would do, and as the sun rose so quickly i didnt really have time to set anything up and think too much about my process getting the shots..
