This was my first attempt at taking photos of fireworks with my DSLR. We were right under them so I was shooting straight up.

hrm, I honestly wouldn't know what the photo was if you didn't tell me it was fireworks. That's okay though. The problem is there is no subject, no focal point, no excitement. Most of the photo is black space.

Next time try a longer shutter speed when larger fireworks are going off. Find a point of reference if you can. Directly under them probably isn't the best location. Take a look at this photo (random one I selected from google image search)

Notice how you can see a lot of streaked light coming off of the fireworks. This was done with a long shutter, low ISO, low aperture and a tripod. The photographer obviously planned their location before taking the pics too. The Art Museum is in clear sight from a high vantage point, in this case probably from a high floor in another building.

Thanks, I will certainly try better next year. I didn't have much to work with, they were being shot right over the house, but I thought I would bring out the camera and mess around. That picture above is very nice.

I will post one more 4th pict, this one was of my brother and his girlfriend, purely spur of the moment shot not much time. I had the camera on shutter prio, 1/100 -F/5, ISO 3200 set by the camera. I think I should have slowed the shutter speed down some, what you all think? DSC_0513.JPG
