Stormy Sunset

I wasn't sure if this would fit in with the rules for the August competition as it was at sunset. Weather was stormy giving beautiful colours. Other than cropping and resizing, this is as taken.

PS: Maybe I should send this to a "paint by numbers" company. ;)

Because this is in the feedback section I assume you would like feedback.

1. The picture looks tilted, or the church steeple is built on a lean.

2. Shoot at a larger aperture so that you can bring down the ISO (less ISO noise). Since you were in "A"perture mode the camera cranked up the ISO. I suspect you went for the smaller aperture to have all of it in focus. However, at that distance it will all be in focus with a larger aperture. The smaller aperture would have been necessary if the front of the picture were actually seen and not a silhouette.

3. I like and hate the tree on the left. One hand I like it because it feels like I'm standing in the backyard looking out on a beautiful sunset and it kind of frames it. On the other hand I hate the tree because it's blocking some great clouds and I can hear myself cursing my blocked view. I'm torn.

Feedback over.

I like the capture. Great clouds coming all the way back to you from the horizon. Lots of different cloud structure.

Thanks for the feedback. Hadn't noticed the tilt of the steeple. This was hand-held and I never can get them straight. The ISO was set high as I generally shoot insects and need high speed with small aperture. I still haven't got into the habit of checking all the settings. As for the tree I was happily sitting in the warmth of my camping car and it was cold outside (even in August) so took the shot from where I was. Thought a little bit of framing would be appropriate (he lied). ;)

Very beautiful. I would maybe crop a bit of the top, down to the black tree, to "close" the picture more.

I straightened the image as suggested by Moab Man (it was 5 degrees out of line!) meaning that the top crop took place as well as taking out a bit of the tree. Makes for a much tighter photo. Thanks for your comments.
