Scandisk error on l=slot one - OK in slot two

I have an issue with a micro sd card from Scandisk. One of their 32GB Ultra ones.
On my D610 it works fine in slot two, but returns an error in slot one - camera will just report memory card error and even if there is a card in slot two will not let you do anything. works fine in my Asus laptop. But returns card error on both of the slots on my D7100,

Will have to retire this one (no idea how old it is, don't mark my disks to know, should, but don't).

Can't use an unreliable SD card. Maybe I'll just use it on my toy drone ...

first time a scandisk has gone bad - have had a lexar fail a few years back - the card just came apart.

Why use a MICRO SD card where you have to use an adapter? Just use a SD card instead
because A i had a few and B it makes it easier to transfer files to tablet or micro pc without an adaptor the adaptor in camera allows for micro in normal slot harder to put regular sd into micro slots and C sometimes the micro is cheaper on sale or only thing available

i have a mix of both

I suppose it's possible it's the adapter that's going bad, but maybe not if it's always a specific card in a specific a lot.

I'm with Don, I only use the standard SD cards in my bodies, but that was more due to capacity differences more than anything.

i have a new adaptor as i bought a 128gb card for my mini pc will see if it just the adaptor good point

Swapped adapters - still fails in D610 (Slot one) and both slots on D7100. Curiously works OK in the D5100????

So I bought a new SD (went ScanDisk Extreme 32GB). Relegate the iffy one to my toy drone or maybe a photoframe

Also bought a 128GB micro for my ASUS mini-pc as my mini second drive - not much hard disk space on these tiny PC's - that why I had another micro adapter card to test and see if it was the micro SD or the adapter that was bad - sadly the adapter was fine and the card 'iffy".

I suppose the fact these things can fail is good reason to set your dual slot cameras to use the second slot as a back up (I put the RAW on the primary and JPG on the backup alternate disk).
