Quick disconnect strap connectors

Years ago I had some all metal connectors to attach the strap to the camera. They had a hook type end that would fit into the strap lugs on the camera body and a threaded barrel that would tighten down on the hook, sorry but it is hard to describe. Has anyone seen anything like that lately? If so where?

Just to clarify, do you mean a hook and barrel arrangement like this:

It's designed for either, really. I don't use the tripod socket with this strap, I attach it to the strap lugs using the factory split rings.

Thanks, I don't use straps much, almost always on a tripod but a pain to put them back on if needed. It was back around 1970 when I bought some that went right into the strap lugs and it was so easy. Thanks for the info.

Bill, it's fastest strap on the market. I have 2, move them between the lugs and socket on both cameras. Are you wanting something that connects to both lugs at the same time?

Yes, that was what I had but it was a long time ago. They were actually flat metal shaped like a hook and a threaded barrel nut so they couldn't fall off. Hard to explain but I thought I still had some but they must have gone bye-bye with an old camera. They would actually fit on the body lugs and it was so easy to remove/change straps.

I actually bought a sling strap with a quick release as described here, needed to fasten it to the left split ring since when on the right the strap was always over the viewfinder.

Got a leather/fabric workshop near you? Go visit them. I have my local leather worker (who these days, only does about 10 percent of his business in leather) modify my gear on a routine basis.

For a quick disconnect, I recommend taking a page from the Army's MOLLE backpack's emergency release system.

It is a double release. Pull the tab attached to the pull-the-dot fastener, hard, and the strap lock then pulls out of its socket. So you have two fasteners in one system and it is highly unlikely to be activated by accident.
