I've seen some of these and they're rather well made (of aluminum). You would probably want to tether that so that there is no risk of the screw backing out and the camera falling though.
I've been using this system for 18 months on 4 cameras with zero failures. Cost for all 4 cameras was less than one of those.

I'm not promoting the product, I'm pointing out how it's made.Yes, but at what expense.
I've started using a teeny-tiny drop blue LocTite for this. I can still pop the part off easily, bare handed, but it stays put otherwise.I like the black tape.

I like the black tape. I had that problem for a while but never lost it. It has not come off lately though.
I like the black tape. I had that problem for a while but never lost it. It has not come off lately though. I do like the clips and may try that on mine. I use only one side to connect my strap since I wear my strap cross chest.
When I raise it to my eye and don't see it I know it's on the car seat. In the car I tend to place them on the passenger seat next to me with the back of the camera against the seat back. I suspect that when I put them down the friction from the seat back as it slides a bit is enough for them to pull up. I've never lost one, and I've never found one anywhere else. Got the tape idea when I went shooting with my brother and saw it on every one of his.
Same way I transport my camera a lot of the time and the same place I have found mine on a couple of occasions. The other place I have found it is in the camera case.
ROFL - what's a "camera case"?!![]()
Reading this thread has caused me to decide to modify my setup. I am using a Black Rapid sport sling, which attaches to the tripod mount on the bottom of the camera. I don't like the way that hangs the camera, virtually upside down. So I'm going to have my local custom leather/etc shop build me something that converts it to use the two strap loops on the top sides of the camera.
