Lowepro Trekker bag for 500mm. Good idea?

Gear question:

I have stopped buying lenses (do not worry I will start again but it should take a few years).
I wanted to stop buying gear, see below why (stopping GAS). The treatement recommended on the internet lead to go out and take pictures in stead of looking at gear. It works partially, my issue is that I still do not find my 500mm easy to take.

Currently I tried to work like this:

2 to 3 bodies (D7000 + D70s + something lighter)
2 main lenses depending on the subject (e.g. 500mm for birding and macro for incects or 70-200 + 11-16 for landscapes)
this combination on a Cotton Carrier vest (ready for action) + some small light primes (I have 28/50/90) or 18-105 to complement if needed (light walking backpack or if with tripod with appropriate bag).

The 500mm on the Cotton Carrier is OK for 2-3 km, then I find it uncomfortable.
So I noticed a tendency to replace it with the 70-200 + TC 2 when I hike a little, but this is not the same IQ in the field in my experience. I do like the 70-200 + TC2; but for flowers and large insects, not for game.

Other point, my current bags:
- Backpack (OK for 70-200 + TC with body complemented with 4 other smaller elements and tripod on outside, but not more)
- Lowepro Nova 200 (got a really good deal on this, use it more on events, macro with less walking, etc...)
These first 2 are also to move material from my appartment to my car parked on the street. Normally packed with alternative set-ups.

- Small bag for 2-3 small lenses or body with kit lens (more in town or for complementary prime lenses)
- Lowepro Lens Case to put on belt (extra lens on the cotton carrier or on belt for events)
- a small tripod bag (mostly having a tripod and tripod stool)
- a large tripod bag (GAS had kicked in I have 2 tripods, a monopod, some manfrotto extensions, filters, gimbal head, cotton carrier vest, etc... in this bag) => only for short movements of large (amounts of) gear
- small bag for my flashes
- Case that came with the 500mm => not handy in the field, I tried.
- Soft case that came with 70-200 => like it use it on the cotton carrier/belt for extra camera, larger lens.

I was now considering:
- Lowepro Photo Trekker AW => not clear to me which bag this exactly is, so not enthousiast to buy it second hand.
- Lowepro Lens Trekker 600 => seem good to carry the 500mm, not clear if I can add the primes + some rain clothing
- Lowepro Pro Trekker 600 => seem perfect to carry a lot of gear, but maybe too big to be fun?

Not new, my use does not justify it.

The point is that I would have to sell my old backpack if I get the Photo or Pro Trekker, it makes no sense to keep both.
The Lens Trekker is a supplementary bag, but since it is specific I could limit the times I get it out?

Any experience with the Trekker bags? Do you find it a good idea?

At least I got 1 thing straight in my head.

The bag will replace the case that came with the 500mm and the case will probably go in the cellar.
I seem to have a tendency for a small bag, found some alternatives:

Vanguard Quovio 66
KATA TLB 600
Manfrotto TLB-600 PL => seems really foreseen to pack some extra lenses, but should be posssible in others as well
Tamrac Super Telephoto lens pack

FStop seems too expensive

I compared with the case of the 500mm lens: outside 380mm inside 340mm => my current backpack is sufficiently big (might miss comfort), I also have a large trekking backpack (normally holds camouflage clothing) which is not handy (e.g. no tripod holders) in access but has a super frame (aired) and is very light.

Fighting the GAS I will first look into using what I have.

With the earlier then expected purchase of a 600mm f4, the Lens Trekker 600 AW (first version, second hand) had to follow.

Carrying a big lens with the Lens Trekker is more comfortable then with a traditional backpack. The flat base and how it is connected to the frame are really comfortable, it does not take away that a heavy lens asks a lot of effort to carry.
Some parts were missing:
- internal separation: I put a poncho there and the lens + camera feels very well protected
- external bands + pocket for tripod: I created some bands myself + use some velcro + a small holder for a tool; works well for me.

P.S. the camo net on the picture does not fit in, I use a very light backpack to hang that from the belt.
