I really like the Black Rapid style of camera strap, but..... There's always seems to be a "but".
As I carried my 400 pound D800 and 16-35 over a few miles of concrete and asphalt, I found myself with my left hand lightly holding on to the camera.
I kept having visions of the small nub (connecting the carabiner to the strap ring) snapping off from the weight and the camera hitting the pavement.
Irrational. I know, but it still bothered me. I view that nub as the weak link in the system.
So, when I got home I researched for a better snap hook. I didn't have much luck in finding a definative replacement, but in veiwing photos of hooks, I found a great solution. By simply attaching a sturdy key ring to the rig, I now have a safety-back-up in case the nub fails from the weight.
I just thought I'd share this with those of you using a similar set-up.
