Need a little input

I have a few friends that recently had babies. I offered to take some photos for the experience with newborns. I want to buy a white and a black backdrop and a support system. I found this on amazon Amazon.com: CowboyStudio Photography 6 x 9ft Black & White Muslin Backdrops with Support System and Carry Bag: Camera & Photo This is exactly the setup I'm looking for. Wondering if anybody has had any experience with CowboyStudio products, or any input. I Also want to get a couple umbrellas and stands to use my speedlights with. I found these Amazon.com: Photography Photo Studio Flash Mount Umbrellas Kit Three Umbrellas By Fancierstudio Fan UB1: Camera & Photo the price seems very cheap for the amount of stuff you get. Work has been very slow this winter so I'm not trying to spend a fortune, but I'm also not trying to buy junk. Thanks guys.

Nothing wrong with that stuff for your first kit. It is similar to what several of us here have already. I would also add a white umbrella to that kit as silver and gold add tones that may not be desired in all types of shots. White bounce or a shoot through would give you what you need.

I would add though that if you are photographing just the infant it might be worth it to invest in a large wicker basket and some white, blue and pink baby blankets. You won't need a large back drop setup to photograph a baby. You likely won't need this setup at all to photograph babies even when held by a parent. Usually baby photos are closeups and don't require much background.

Thanks for the reply Mike. That kit does include 2 white shoot through umbrellas. I do have a few wicker baskets and a ton of different baby blankets. What I was thinking of doing was having the parents wear black and have them get "lost" into the black backdrop while holding their baby. I know its a little cliche but I really love the effect that it gives.
