Bos tail strap

I currently use a Black Rapid sport strap which works well except when I want to use my tripod. The Bos strap solves the problem by attaching a strap to the normal strap mount. Why can't I just put a sprung ring (Key ring type) onto the standard mounting point and attache the Black Rapid to that? It seems quite logical to me but perhaps I'm missing something.

You possibly could, I just got the Bos straps and I like them, they are adjustable. Also the ring is solid so no chance of it giving way.

If you have a Manfrotto tripod that uses the 200PL quick-release plate, Black Rapid has an adapter that allows you to keep the QR plate on your camera/lens and still use the strap.

Thanks for the fast replies. I've just tried it and it looks good. I guess you just need to use a decent ring or it'll stretch,

That's exactly what I've been doing only I'm using a BosStrap (sling strap) and a carabiner connected to the ring on the mount point of my '7100. The 'biner is rated for 25lbs., which is kind of comforting, but I've used the split-rings you're referring to as well.

Minor details aside, this "system" has worked like a champ for me for a long time now. Easy on, easy off and no need to use the mount plate from my tripod, which always annoyed me.

You can try the luma labs membrane connector, you can attach it between the body and tripod plate. I currently have my hand strap connected to mine.

And it's made in Portland, Oregon.

I know others have done it.. I think on a 7000. I just went with the staight Bos Strap on my 5100 .. (my 7100 currently uses the BR connector)

Just make sure you get a strong enough ring..

Looks very interesting, but I have no real problems with my BR and it has a pocket for cloth and spare cards. Watching this space, though.

The only thing I don't like about the BR system is that it uses the tripod socket and that keeps me from being able to put my camera down on a flat surface, like a table, without first removing whatever is occupying the tripod socket.

i attached my BR strap straight to my D7000, cut a very small notch in the plastic cover of the camera mount
