Looking for a highly compact tripod (Under 26cm) - In the UK

Going to Iceland in Feb, looking for a compact tripod under 26cm that'll fit inside my camera bag which I'll be taking on the plane as hand luggage.

Needs to be in the UK, will use any online store.

Was thinking about one of those gorilla pod's but I'd also have to buy an expensive ball head to support the weight.

Thanks

Would you consider a monopod?

I just remembered about the existence of those! I would consider them if I can take steady photos of landscapes and cityscapes etc.

What would you recommend?

Max budget around £45 - £50

I recently looked into this for a trip to the states in June. The smallest tripod that would actually be worth having was the Velbon UT-43 at around £110 and 29cm folded. I ended up with the Benro travel angel II at around 40cm and £170. I did lots of research and this is where I ended up. As for the Gorilla pod, I got one free with the bag I bought to take on the trip in June. I wouldn't risk my iphone on it!! In fact if you pay the postage you can have it. I would be surprised if you find something in your budget that's actually worth taking up luggage space with based on my own research, as a cheap floppy tripod is probably worse than no tripod as you get lured into a false sense of security.

One other point, some security people think tripods/monopods are dangerous weapons and may not let you carry it on board.

Good points re Gorilla pod. I suspect we've (hobbyists) all bought one of those and binned it! It can't support the weight of my gear. A tripod/monopod can go in the bag in the hold (assuming carry-on is all camera kit).

It looks great, but it doesn't meet my most important criteria, the height! Unfortunately since it's 39cm long when folded up it won't fit in my bag. I would want something that packs away into the bag so when I take it on excursions it isn't hanging out of the side pocket getting in the way.

Looking at many other monopods on Amazon, they all seem to be over 26cm tall when folded, even the "Hama Traveller Monopod" which measures at 35cm.

I took a gorilla pod on holiday and it wouldn't hold my D5100 and Sigma 10-20mm with an after ball head. Have just acquired one of these mini Manfrotto travel Tri pods to try as the reviews say it should do the job.

Yeah, just measured it. With the head it's 43cm long. With the head off, to the end of the screw, it's 37cm.

I would, but I don't actually own a bean bag/anything like that. Plus that bean bag has a screw mount in the middle, so it'll be more stable.

thanks for everyone's help!
