I have got that flash, I bought it for my macro shots. I am happy with mine, and I would buy it again if I had to.
There are a number of threads where this flash gets very good mentions by everyone that has one.

We are planning a trip to the Smithsonian Museum and I'm looking into getting a flash. I'm interested in this one. And I was wondering if anybody has one or has heard about this model.

What camera do you have? Does it have a Commander function in it?

The difference between the 565 and the 568 is that the 568 can work as a remote with a Nikon Commander, and can do High Speed Sync (Auto FP) which those cameras can do.

If you don't have a commander, the 565 will do anything your camera can do. However, a 568 might be wise planning for a future bigger camera that can use all of its stuff?

I have a D3100. The website claims it will work with it.

It will work, no problem. The 568 flash can do anything the D3100 can do, and it can also do a lot more then the D3100 can do (for example, it can do all the D7100 can do too - speaking of Commander Remote and HSS modes).

The 565 is more equally matched, doing only what the D3100 can do.

But if someday you have more camera, then the 568 should be ready and waiting. The question now is about what you want to pay for. Seems like good stuff to know.
