All it takes is a tray feed to put the CD/DVD in. I used a Epson back when I was writing/selling software. Was really nice to give them a custom CD. It looks so much more professional than a CD with a Label on it.
Currently I have a Canon printer which doesn't accept the DVDs/CDs for printing. Apparently there were some Canon printers that allowed it back when I bought mine, but I wasn't aware of the option at that time. The DVDs do look much nicer with the photo on top. Thanks for your input, Don!
While I've not owned a Canon Pixima printer personally I have used them in the past with great success and I've heard nothing but great things about them generally. They *always* seem to have outstanding reviews. You might want to see how bad they're going to screw you for toner before taking the plunge, though... GAH!! Toner costs!!!
The toner is one of my concerns. As it is, with my current printer, it costs $70+ to buy a package of 4 color cartridges plus a package of 3 black ones. I have no complaints about my current Canon printer. I just wish it had the option to print onto discs. Thanks kindly, Horoscope Fish!
I have the pro 100. Bought it back in May and I finally installed last week to print out my portfolio for class. Awesome printer. There are 8 ink cartridges(there is a gray and light gray). I have printed 32- 11x14, 6- 8x10, and 7- 4x6 and all the ink cartridges are still full except the gray, which has about 4/5 left. The printer did come with a tray that holds a CD/DVD so I think that it can PRINT(I see that you said burn in your post) on a CD/DVD. I have not tried it though. The ink, if you buy it in a bundle will run you $124 U.S. this sucker is also 50 pounds. I believe that there is a $300 rebate that makes the printer + 50- 13x19 paper only $89-100 U.S. bhphoto or adorama Forgot to mention that I love this printer! Before this printer I was using a Canon ip4700. It is almost night and day if you compare the two printers. » William via Tapatalk
Thanks for the info on replacement cartridges. The high cost is what I'm afraid of. At least it sounds like you've printed out a number of photos and still have a lot of toner left. After I've printed out a number of 4x6 photos, it seems like the cartridges go down rather quickly.
And I didn't check out the weight of either of these--wow, 50 pounds makes it kind of heavy.
I did look at the rebate. If I buy the printer alone, the rebate is $200. The final cost brings it down to approximately the same price as the other printer, so I will need to read up more about the cost of replacement cartridges between these two printers. Of course, maybe I'll find another Canon printer to consider, too, but both of these appear to meet my needs. Thanks for letting me know all of this, mr2_serious!
