Mr. Pistone is coming to Montreal to testify in the Charbonneau Commission. I would say that security will be rather tight!

"Fuuugettt about it..." ;)

Apparently, he always carries a handgun. Being an ex-FBI agent and the reasons why he carries a hangun with him, i am wondering if he will be allowed to carry his firearm here in Canada? Somehow, i think he may have to leave it south of the border.

I wouldn't be surprised if there's not some sort of agreement between our two countries that would allow him to carry his weapon. But who knows, I'm quickly learning it's a much more complicated world than I ever imagined it to be.

Yep, i think you are right. After posting my last comment, i thought about what i had read and it seems that he carries wherever he goes. They will have to figure out what disguise he is wearing though, lol.

So on the subject of gun laws in Canada, how different are they from the laws here in CA? I think we here in CA have some of the toughest gun laws in the nation so I'm wondering how they compare to your laws up there in the great white north?

Well, they are certainly not lax. We have had quite a few re-vamps of our gun laws due to certain incidents up here, namely the Polytechnique shooting. We just had the gun registry ordered to be scrapped - though some provinces are have fought to save info pertaining to their territory. The gun registry was essentially a way of tracking every long-gun that a person possessed. This was a way to give law enforcement a heads up to what, if any, long-gun someone may own when answering a call. This lack of knowledge was not more evident then in the Mayerthorpe shooting, where 4 RCMP officers were killed by James Roszko with a H&K 91 - this rifle was not legally registered to him. Anyhow, needless to say, the laws are pretty strict up here. But, they will never be able to stop the constant use of firearms in criminal acts.
