Neil Armstrong has passed away.

Neil Armstrong was a childhood hero of mine. First man on the moon and a real man.

He passed away from heart surgery complications. He was 82 years old.

RIP and enjoy your walk back on the moon.

Very sad.

Pioneers like Armstrong are always revered, and he was, in a big way. Big man.

I can still remember that day. RIP Neil

All of those old astronauts are some of the most special people there are IMO. Many are old and they are dying like Neil Armstrong. Sometime in the soon in the near future we are likely to hear of the passing of John Glenn. Many of their friends died doing what they did while they were doing it.

The closest thing we have to that today is not some uav Martian Rover it is the JPL control room and the team of folks who made the incredible happen. It is the cofounder of Paypal who started Space X (the other cofounder just sold tons of Facebook stock to the tune of a billion dollars...guess what he is involved in? ). Curiosity and SpaceX are very special in their own way but it is not the same as Mercury and Apollo.

RIP Neil - I remember watching you take the 1st step on the Moon. Wow what a life - how many people can say they flew high performance jets then rode a rocket to the moon and walked on it ??

He was an original space cowboy.

Truly an American legend and pioneer. He is such an inspiration from all generations.

RIP Neil....May you forever rest in peace! What an amazing life he lived. He will never be forgotten from generation to generation.

Sad news. It was reading about the heyday of the space program, Neal Armstrong, and his contemporaries that got me interested in aviation and the military.
