Not Happy with Nikon Support

No, It's not my D3100 this time. My wife has a Coolpix L120 which has been a great little camera but recently it started not shooting. You would hold down the button and it might take a minute or two to fire and it might not fire at all. I sent it off to Nikon support for repair. They said it would be $87 to fix it. I paid the $87. that was a month ago. I emailed Friday and got a automated response telling me someone would email me back the following business day. No email yesterday or today. So today (Tuesday) I called them only to get someone who I don't think really cared what my problem was. They said parts had to be ordered and they did not know the status. They then said that they would check and if they did not get a response in a couple of days they would call me back and let me know that they did not know anything yet.

How long should it take to get a camera repaired my Nikon? I am about ready to tell them to ship it back un-repaired and go buy her a Canon.

Venting over now.

Call the Better Business Bureau...LOL

Just joking...that sucks. You can get a pretty darn good P&S for little money nowadays. I always keep an eye on the Wal Mart shelves because when they get new models in they discount the old models and take them off display. I have seen Nikons that were priced at 200-300 go for 100-150.

I hope they have followed up with you by now. That sounds like a very frustrating experience. They should definitely understand the importance of prompt repairs and communication of any delays. Great customer service equals return customers after all.

Certainly not the response you were hoping for but at least now you have a timeline of sorts. Thankfully, we are near the end of the month. I hope you receive it as anticipated and it the repairs have been done correctly.

Got the wife's little Nikon back today. Took a month. Well they fixed the problem it when away for but the created another problem. There are two zoom controls on the camera, one on the side of the zoom, and one on/around the shutter release button. The one on the side works just fine but the more used one on/around the shutter release is now defunct. I sent them a sternly written email through the support page. We will see if they respond. If not I will have to take stronger measures.

Well after a couple of tries they sent a label to return the camera. This time they sent it to California instead of the East Coast center. Today is the 12th of September and I have the camera back in my hands repaired. Less than 10 days to ship it and get it repaired and back to me. I guess my Sternly worded emails and phones calls worked.
It appears to be working. We will see since we are going to Callaway Gardens for the weekend.
