    My world almost stopped today.

    My world almost stopped today.
I went down to the pool with the kids and set my bag with my camera in it on the table, went to get another chair and crash my bag fell over and my camera bounced of the table onto the ground, #[email protected]%, picked it up and a part that had broken off onto the table.

I got into the pool and swam 6 lengths thinking what will i do, will my insurance cover it, prayed, what was i going to do.

Lucky enough it was only the battery cover that came of, snapped it back into position examined the camera and lens, nothing, turned in on and zoomed in and out, auto focus seemed fine, a few test pics and all was ok.

Phew, that was too close for comfort, i will be a lot more careful in future.

A few years back on the way to the airport grabbed a quick sunrise shot get to the airport and go to pull out my bag the camera comes crashing down. Hits the door sill then the pavement.. Fuming the whole time I could I be so dumb as to not zip the bag. After check in was able to give it a test, everything ok. I still had the hood on, it took the brunt of the fall only a small chip out of the hood.

    Like my new zipper pulls?

Wow, way too close for comfort! Glad it's working okay, Roy. That is one advantage of buying thru B&H and getting the optional drops and spills coverage with Square Trade. I think wev had that plan on either a lens or a body - and he made use of it for something.

Make sure you test out features you might not use regularly such as self-timer and other modes (Manual, Aperture Priority, Shutter Priority) to be sure they work correctly.

Last time I dropped a camera, I went down with it. Glad it was just the battery cover. Shew

Heart in mouth stuff Roy. Glad your camera is OK. I've done it too.... but getting swamped by a wave while whale watching a few years back was my killer. My camera was never the same again after that. Gone now tho and it's all a memory

The worst part is watching it fall and not being able to do anything to stop it. I was in White Mountain, NH a couple of years ago photographing a stream. The D700 and tripod were in the stream and I had just removed a lens to get another and slipped and watched the camera and tripod hit the water. I tried to rescue it but to no avail; it was a goner.
