First thing to say is i dont understand this as i dont use photobucket.

On another forum there is a discussion about you only being able to post Photobucket hosted images on forums via a link if you buy one of their licences,i have no idea if many members use this or not,the disscusion goes on to say when this comes in and forum images already posted via a link will vanish if the licence isn't bought.

As i say ime only posting this incase its right and to give members a chance to investigate if they want to.

That'd be the final nail in the coffin for me using that site. It so full of ads and pop ups that make the site incredibly, almost impossibly slow and painful to use.

It's true... the below is from their "Terms of Use"

o Plus 500 Plan: 500 GB of Storage and unlimited bandwidth for $399.99 / Year. The Plus 500 Plan allows for unlimited image linking and unlimited 3rd party image hosting.

Upsetting quite a few people on forums that use it regularly. I think it will impact on Photobucket in a way they did NOT imagine and they'll lose out. Shame. It was convenient. At least it was until they started with the advertising. Glad I rarely use it these days

Unfortunately I am one of those that has been using Photobucket for years, all my posts now contain the upgrade image.

The good news, I guess, is that older posts rarely, if ever, get looked at, sigh...

I joined Flickr a couple of years ago and will be using that from now on.

Sure would have loved to have been a fly on the wall when they made this decision, makes no sense to me.

Might as well have closed their doors. There are so many other free choices out there for simple storage.

Cheers, Don

I used PB for some online linking. It was free & worth every penny paid. With my ad blocker running pop ups were not a problem. A couple of weeks ago I got a message that unless I turned off my ad blocker I couldn't use the site. I turned it off & the pop up ads came cascading in making PB unusable. I figured something was up, but didn't know exactly what that was.

Well now I do & I don't have a problem with them charging. Although their pricing is real crazy. They should have let people know this was coming. To drop this on people out of the blue really stinks. I see this move helping smugmug. I already have a smugmug account that I will use exclusively now.

Good bye PB. :p

I have a PB account, it haven't uploaded anything to it in a long time. I was pretty annoyed with it, but I don't remember why now.
