How to remove sand from lens release

How do you get sand out of the lens release? its not super sandy but theres a few bits of it I couldn't get off and inside it like 3 grains got on the glass. My lens broke from the sand and I want to be extra careful to not break anything on the camera.

If it is external sand you wish to get rid of, try a soft paintbrush to lightly brush the sand away. (Please ensure that it is dry, BTW.) Brush slowly, softly and carefully.
