D7xxx - Two cards.. I only ever take one out so even if I forgot to replace it there would be the second.

I have, however, driven all the way to a zoo (About 1.5 hour drive) and paid to get in, to then realise that my battery is still in the charger at home. Now I have two batteries!

My stupid moment, which took me a while to train myself, was leaving my camera bag open and then picking it up and dumping everything on the ground. I have retrained myself that a bag is never left unzipped. It can be frustrating, but never as frustrating as it is to throw all my stuff on the ground.

As to SD cards, retrained myself that all cards are only kept in my bag and nowhere else, even to just set it down for the moment - MUST PUT IN BAG.

Ok, so having done this vanishing SD card trick myself on more than one occasion I first bought a camera with two SD slots.

Somehow I still managed to find myself in a situation where I didn't have an SD card. So, I bought a couple of extra for my bag. Sure enough, next time it happened...

I forgot my bag at home. So, my final solution - I bought a data transfer cable and I leave the SD cards in the camera. That door will not get opened till one goes bad. Even put a warning label on it.. lol

So far at least, it's worked.

My SD card never comes out of the camera, your camera should have been supplied with a data transfer cable ? If not they are cheap enough on eBay..

Not sure about the OP but I bought mine used, so I had to buy the cable separately. Was worth it though, haven't found myself sans SD card since. Bit slower importing, but again, worth it.

I have 2 or 3 camera bags that I switch to regularly so I keep extra cards in each bag plus the ones I normally keep in my bodies.

I have two wallets (one for SD, one for CF) that I rotate through the 3 different camera bags I'm likely to carry.

I do tend to rotate through my memory cards as part of my workflow, namely to ensure that that a card with images that were paid for doesn't get re-used until the images are delivered. How the cards flow into and out of those wallets is part of my routine.

Next up for me ... a battery wallet for camera batteries. (I already have an organizer for my rechargable AA's.)

So glad I'm not alone lol

I've formatted the one out of the canon that I rarely use now and will leave it next to the shutter remote for the camera , as for the data transfer cable I'm now trying to remember we're I put the box to see if one in there :)

When I take a SD card out of the camera the door stays open and the camera sits on the table until the SD card gets put back in. Battery gets removed and another one gets put in at the same time so I don't forget it.

Well so far it's worked for me. Granted if I wind up somewhere again with no SD cards the next step is going to have to be some kind of cyberarm.. so trying hard not to have to go to that extreme. :)

Just leave the card door OPEN anytime you have the card out of the camera. Then when you pick up the camera, you see the door is open, meaning the card is absent.

They're cheap enough that you should just have extras everywhere. Keep a couple in the car in a card wallet, one in the plastic case in your regular wallet if you got room, one in each camera bag. Same with batteries (except for the D500 forcing 1st party batteries)

Ha! I always keep my cards in the camera, I've forgotten one in the computer once.
I do always carry two extra cards in my bag as well.

I had to make a check list. Dain Bramage will do that to you. I made lists on a white board at my front door. It works... Something important goes on the board. But now the D7200 has two slots. That helps most :)
