Nice job! A goal is a great idea. Maybe we should do that next year.
According to Strava, I've ridden 788 miles so far this year, mostly on my road bike. So, I'll probably hit 1,000-1,100 by the end of the year. Unfortunately this summer we've had a LOT of rain, so riding has been difficult.
A friend of mine rode across the USA, about 3,000 miles in ~50 days (paying a company that does that kind of tour). He took a small camera with him and had hundreds or thousands of pictures from it. He also seemed to be stopping for ice cream at least daily.
It was inspirational! He and his wife spent the summer working at Yellowstone National Park, and I see on Strava that he's doing all kinds of mountain rides.
This weekend, my wife and I are riding in
The Tour de Chocolate Town, a charity bike ride in Hershey, Pennsylvania. We're only doing the 34 mile option, though - I'd hoped to do more this time, but we're just not ready to sit in the saddle for 62 miles. In fact, we're so far behind that 34 miles is probably my longest ride of the year. (Last year we did a 48 mile ride as 'training' before the Tour.)
What Garmin do you use? We both have 510s and, up until recently, we were pretty happy with them. But a recent software update has meant that they've started syncing slowly and unreliably. And my wife lost a ride the other day when the Garmin completely reset and lost all of her settings and data, which was pretty frustrating because she thinks she had some new personal records on the ride.
