Can anyone help with fundraising ideas??

Ok, so our daughter and 3 of her school friends want to go off to Peru (on an Educational Trip), problem is we have a year to raise the £2500 for each of them to go. It looks like an absolutely phenomenal experience for them.

So at the moment we're trying to rack our brains for fundraising ideas, but want to come up with something different as well as the normal bake sales, car washes etc. Can anyone help at all, we have complete mind blank here :D

Since you got a year, they each need about 7$ a day. That should be doable without fundraising.

Paper round, mowing grass...

When I was young all we got for free was a beating. The rest we had to work for. ;)

Yeah us too, thing is this will let them see what it's like to live without everything they have and still be happy. They go to work and help maintain the boys homes that have been built to take the boys off the streets and give them an education and a start in life, so this is no holiday. We've told her that if she wants to go she has to raise the money herself, we will help, but not financially. It's just trying to come up with new ideas.:)

I fear I wouldn't know what girls do to earn money besides baby sitting. For boys it's easier; everything that involves physical labor and getting dirty.

My boys were all working in a pub/restaurant at 13 (pot washing and glass collecting), my daughter helps coach martial arts (and has been doing since she was 12/13). I was babysitting to raise money when I was growing up.. oh and theres always household tasks. I HATE ironing, so I pay my daughter piecework to do the ironing.

The way I remember it, I kinda had to work for my beatings! Folks was tough, but fair!

I'm pretty sure my beatings came without much effort from my part. At home I didn't get beaten as much as by the teachers at school.

I got born with the intolerable gene.

An option if they were old enough, got to be 16 here and there's not much option for anyone under 16

I worked since I was 14 years old. in the summer I worked in a bagel emporium store and saved quite some money. the spent not long after. I worked in a movie theatre when I was 15.

newspaper delivery. not sure how that is today with media being digital.
babysitting like traceyjj noted.

thats a task at 2500 pounds each. bet itll be an experience theyll never forget.

It will be a task for them to raise the money, but it's something that they'll never forget. The law has changed so much since even I was their age, paper rounds are about all anyone under 16 can do now, but try finding one. Collecting glasses etc is out as licensed premises aren't allowed to hire anyone under 18, so they are all limited to what they can do for employment and if they're still at school they're limited to how many hours they can work. It sucks for kids now to be honest.

Travel has become so expensive these days. I mean, not knowing exact exchange rates, that's like $4000 USD, which to me and mine is a phenomenal amount of money for a trip with "good experience" being the only payback. There are a lot of things you can buy with four grand.

As far as fundraising, forget photography of any sort. People won't pay squat for it. Figure out something tangible to sell like pies or cookies or cakes or hand-knitted doggy sweaters. Make some flyers and describe the trip, what you're selling, and how to buy and contact you - several companies like Godaddy can help you set up a website for cheap. Deliver the flyers by foot to every doorstep you can get to. Ask at local shops if you can put up a poster there, but make it worth something to them too - if you make cookies for instance, ask if you can put up a poster where you plan to buy all your cooking supplies. One other idea is petsitting, petwalking, and house-sitting services, which a teenager can usually handle. Assuming they love animals. If they don't, such ventures quickly become adventures. :)

Local coffee shops? restaurants? they will give saturday jobs to school kids. In England a licenced premisis can still employ under 18s, but obviously they are not allowed to serve. A friend of ours son works in a pub and he's 15.

For something like this, I'd think outside the box. It is a lot of money to raise especially if they are doing babysitting and/or mowing yards. And for the latter, they might even need their own mower.

Why not get your community involved? Perhaps set up a Go Fund Me page. To do it effectively, there needs to be something that will catch the community's eye. Try to come up with an idea that will allow the kids to volunteer in the community (not to be paid directly) that can be promoted by the local news outlets. Have them do something good. Have it be captured by the news. It would have to be something ongoing rather than a one-time thing. Have the news link to their Go Fund Me page.
