Every part and word of that show was scripted, the jokes, the 'spontaneity', the TG challenges etcetera, and i did have to put that out of my mind a lot to watch it. That said, i'm sad its goneI hate how things are just too scripted.

Good point Mike. Maybe it had just about run its courseAgree but do wonder if they had done most things they could and we where getting more and more rehashed situations.

run its course? the ratings for the show is probably at the highest its ever been. close to anyways.
I dont work any more now but when i did if i had hit any other member of staff i would have been fired,i could ignore his verbal comments on things as these where done for effect and gain column lines in the papers, resorting to physical violence was a step too far for me as much as i enjoyed him and the show.
He got what he deserved.

It was out in the public domain. If it hadn't been reported, and no one knew any different, then he might, just might have got away with it. The BBC had no choice, they were backed into a corner on this one. Any company here would have to do it, no matter how good you are. Violence in the workplace is instant dismissal, end of. If you don't dismiss the perpetrator, it sets a precedent and open the door to others being able to repeat those actions without fear of reprisals. It could also lead to personal Law suits against the aggressor, in which the Company can be open to some sort of liability. Most companies would indeed fire someone in that case, but would your company have fired you if by doing so, they would lose their biggest money making account? They would probably send you to some sort of rehab or fine you or something like that.
.
Its funny how they have let him go but they are still letting him do the Top Gear live's so they dont lose out on the money they already have, they already have a big refund to give out to other countries that have brought the series to be shown and they are missing 3 episodes
AFAIK, it s going to be called 'Clarkson, Hammond and May Live'. There's no Top Gear or BBC logo associated with the live shows. They're doing a show here in Sheffield apparently. Wouldn't mind going tbh, but I can imagine tickets will be gold dust and exchanging hands well upwards of 3 figures.
