I am on Top of the World

Why? Cos I found yesterday a cleaning set.

Let me tell you something how Thailand works. I was looking for get a sensor cleaning on my D5100. I asked a Camera store to send my Camera to Nikon Bangkok. Actually it is faster than I send by myself. When everything is well I will get my Camera about a bit more then 2 month. This is too long. I send by myself about 2 month. So no option..

I started to ask in Camera stores about a Sensor Cleaning set. Every store said that I should go to Bangkok. Is not a big deal. So I contacted stores, I saw which are having cleaning set. Three weeks passing by not one store gave me an answer to my questions.

I contacted on Facebook some photo groups of Thailand. There one Member gave me a link to a store nearby me. Is just a 20 minutes drive. And my friend at Pattaya was also looking for a cleaning set I asked. The stores in Pattaya told him that sensor cleaning set is not available in Thailand. "I love Thailand and the highly trained salesmen"

O.K. Yesterday was the day off time of my school and I went to that shop I was told nearby me. I went into that store, a small lovely young lady was a bit afraid of a foreigner. But short after that I said good morning in Thai she was very helpful and gave me after a few questions my cleaning set I wanted/needed. We talked a bit and I asked for the 35mm. She told me that I should fill up for a free member card and I can get discount. I did it. Now I am a happy owner of a membership card, a 35mm lens, and a cleaning set.

And today I cleaned my sensor. I am so happy, no spots ere visible at any aperture.

Overall I love Thailand with all my heart even their are many things that are a bit annoying.

Taken with my iphone4

You can get that stuff online too. In Australia, unless you live in the big cities no camera stores stock that sort of gear if you can even FIND a camera store :( I bought mine online and used it an was pretty happy with how it worked and how easy it was. Going to have to do my D7100 pretty soon. Have leftover solution and swabs so as long as the swab size is OK for this new camera, then I am set :D

I can understand your joy :D

I think a clean sensor is important making great photos as well as good lenses :)

cleaning sensors is overrated. if I show u what my sensor looks like youd think differently. unless youre shooting a smooth pastel/light colored background you wont notice anything. and that auto sensor clean in the camera is overrated as well.

It's not overrated if your sensor is dirty. I've done it maybe 6 times in the past 10 years. It's easier to clean the sensor than to spend time in post removing artifacts. And I change lenses a lot. I've seen muck in the foreground & background. First instance, I had a camera repair shop do the cleaning. Charged me $100. After that, I bought a kit. And are you saying that your sensor is filthy?

Why? They're easy to clean...most of the time a Rocket Blower will get the junk off. Wet cleans are just as easy.

I use the blower and have done a wet clean but i have no patience and hate fiddly jobs,as i hardly ever take the Tamron off hopefully wet cleans will be few and far between
