Goodbye everyone.

There have been some posts recently that have made me reconsider using this forum & I've now decided to leave. That you to everyone who helped me to start-up after my 30 year break. I will of course continue to enjoy my photography skills & wish everyone the best of luck.

What's going on? It isn't difficult to figure out who you are (came across one of your posts where someone included your user name). Sorry to hear you are leaving. :(

You can see a user's user name history in their profile.

Surprising to me. Have not noticed any untoward stuff, so is a mystery.

As a regular participant of this forum, I haven't seen anything that I would consider close to rude or offensive in any post I've viewed. I might not agree with everyone, but that's a good thing. If I ever leave the group, it won't be anonymously.

There is a lot of repartee in most of the forums, and I believe that is one of the perils of free speech. You have to take both the praise and criticism as it comes, that is life. You cannot run away every time you feel slighted. Very soon there will be no place to go.

I have worked out who it is, and also read a thread which appears to have upset the member - All I can say is it is a shame you have taken some other members thoughts so personally, and hopefully you will maybe come back after some time away to cool.

I have absolutely no clue why "Deleted" aka "Gorf" left the Forum. Whatever his reasons are, I hope that he's not leaving us with an unresolved grudge against anyone of us.

I just hope that he didn't leave because his shots were not praised as much as he wished they'd be. Discussion Forums can be a hard place for a fragile ego.

But maybe he's switched brands and felt he didn't belong here but I guess we will never know. I just find it a bit rude not to explain his reasons to leave, but that's just my ego speaking. :)

I can only wish him well, but I guess since he's left he'll never know that.

Is this about my criticism upon stock photography? There was nothing personal to it, it was purely about stockploitation.

I wondered if it was the "lenstag" thread based on all the "Dislikes". Either way, it would be nice to have discussed whatever the problem was... As it is it just resembles a small child shouting that they are leaving home and slamming the door, just because they weren't allowed more cake.

I've been called a raving madman and I'm still standing. ;) Nothing that has an off-button can hurt you.

I followed the thread and you were not over the top.

This forum has got to be one of the friendliest photography forums out there IMHO. Its a shame he didn't share his reasons for leaving so we can understand.

I also see this in other forums, sometimes things are said, but taken in the wrong context. especially on a forum like this, with people from all over the world., here in the UK we might say one thing, which could come across as a different meaning in the USA.

Most just stay away from the forum for a few weeks then come back.

I do find everyone on this forum friendly and helpful :)

Forums have always been difficult territory,a lot of the time its due to the lack of body language and facial expressions, smileys are meant to go someway to solving it but they cant be a complete fix.

Of course he'll know, he's reading this. In the history of every forum ever someone has dropped a hissy fit at something and declared they are leaving with no explanation in the hope everyone says how great he was and how they shouldn't have had to leave.

Grown ups with real grievances know how to take it to the moderators with PM's, attention seekers do it this way..... harsh but true, no offence gorf, I don't know you, but leaving a forum is an easy thing to do, just don't read, log in or post, no commotion required, if you have a real grievance, then sort it out in private with the correct people.

Geez, I've been criticized a few times, and I used that as a learning tool.
There are folks here that know a heck of a lot more about photography than I do, and I interpret their input as trying to help me improve, not as a personal attack. But, to each his own, I guess.
@SteveH - wait....there's cake?
