My name is Christopher Wirth. I live in Tampa FL. I just purchased a Nikon 18-200 VR and will be getting my D5100 and 35mm 1.8 soon. I have had a Pentax K-m for about a year and a half. I am looking forward to this summer as I will be in New York for an internship from the end of May until the beginning of August. I am excited to practice my photography throughout the city.

I have been to New York before and have taken some good photos with my K-m. I do however want to take more night shots and more shots of skyline. Any tips on where to go to get some great shots would be amazing.

Welcome to the site! I love my 35mm f/1.8 and I am sure you will as well. I wish I had more advice for where to shoot however I do not. I do, however, look forward to seeing the pictures you do post!

Welcome to Nikonites, Chris. It'll be nice to see some of your shots when you finally get your D5100. Looking forward to seeing your work. In the meantime, have fun, ask questions. :)

I recently went to NY. I took advantage of all the photo opportunities. I would advise you go on a movie tour. They take you to various amazing sites that you would not consider. Broadway st was also a great location for photos. Time square is an obvious opportunity, especially at night. I only had 3 days to shoot. Plus I only had my camera about 3 weeks and was learning how to use my camera throughout the trip. It was a great learning experience. Hopefully you have more of an opportunity to take great photos. good luck.

Thank you everyone! What do you guys recommend as the best free lightroom 4 guides? I recently switched from Aperture to Lightroom. Also, this summer I will have my Macbook Air but when I get back I would like to bring all my Lightroom edits to my iMac. What is the best way of doing this?

Thanks
