Hi!
I'm a new member of nikonites and am excited for a new source of inspiration!
A little about myself, I got a D40x with the 18-55 & 55-200 non VR versions back in 2008ish for Christmas when my daughter was born. Used it heavily for about 10 years and then my 55-200 AF motor gave out and the one in the 18-55 sounded like it wanted to. I took my camera in for cleaning and in the mean time, got shineyitis.
I invested in a new D5300 body and got a 18-140VR lens while waiting for my D40x to come back. Its such a blast to shoot on with the tilty screen and the Nikon app and uploading to my phone instantly, but I still had the bug. I started collecting glass I could use on both DX and FX because I knew within the next couple years, I wanted a full frame.
After a few lenses, I found a deal on Ebay for a D800 that was too good to be true (it was) and now I have a D800 that has a cracked body (surprise!). I was very careful to do the repairs myself, not wanting to fork out the dough for repairs that would cost more than what I got the body for. I have assembled a poor mans trinity, consisting of 11-16mm f2.8 (only 16mm on FX), 35-70 f2.8, & 70-300mm f4.5-5.6 VF along with a couple primes, a 100mm f2.8 Macro and 50mm f1.8.
I enjoy shooting structures, landscapes, wildlife (including bugs with macro), people, events, pretty much anything I can point my camera at, I understand it better when I see it through a lens. I am still building up my lenses with the next being a better zoom or a fuller wide angle.
Thanks for the forum, I am looking forward growing as a photographer!
