Hello, the forum!
I've been in photography in several forms, since 1964. I learned on an old 4x5 Speed Graphic and an old Weston light meter. From there I migrated to 35mm with an old Argus C3 "brick"; not exactly a Leica, but it got me intro'ed on a low budget. During my time in the Navy, I did some public affairs photography for my unit, and I started into portraits and weddings with an old Minolta Autocord, and a brand new Honeywell 700 Strobonar. The Strobonar lasted through a number of replaced battery packs, finally giving up the ghost in 2001.
After that I used a Pentax Spotmatic, and finally migrated to a Nikkormat FT2. The old Autocord finally gave out in 1977, and I got a great deal on a Busch Pressman 4x5. It really opened up the horizons. I've owned Hasselblads, Mamiya's (C22, C330, M645, and RB/RZ). I really got a boost when I bought a Nikon F3HP, and three Nikkors; 50mm f1.4, 24mm f2.8, and a 105 f2.5. I still have all three lenses. I then decided to add the N90s, and finally the F5. I've added a variety of Nikkors, Tamrons, Tokinas, and Sigmas. The latest was an estate sale find on Sunday, getting a 28-200mm f3.5-f5.6 D AF. Out of the garage in mint condition, it was $75. A bit heavy, but seems like a good piece of glass.
When I retired in 2007, I bought a D200, and I still use it; replacing only a couple of batteries, and adding memory cards. In May, the boss unit (wife, v1.0), suggested I should update my camera (as if I needed a push). I compared the D750 and D500, and ended up with a D500 the first of June. I've put a couple hundred frames through it, mostly testing lenses. What a difference nine years make!
I'm an opportunist at heart, photographing whatever pleases my eyes; whether architecture, flowers, nature, birds, etc.
A lot of good information here!
Glad to be here!
