Hi All;);)

I am originally from Scotland and have lived in Alberta for almost 11 years, always liked photography and hubby just recently bought me a Nikon, have to say that so far I'm not too impressed, I'll start a thread re my experience so far!

Hoping for advice on my skills, or lack of and looking forward to learning and sharing:applouse:

Howdy and welcome to Nikonites!

When you start the other thread, add an image or two with the problem(s) that you're seeing and we can provide some ideas to help get things sorted.

Welcome to Nikonites... Enjoy... sometimes, depending on the camera, it may just take a little to get used to it.

Welcome along. If you just shoot in auto on your camera, your results may be worse than a point and shoot camera, or even a camera phone. There is a bit of an art, or is that science to learn with DSLR's

The camera and light capture is only one part of the equation, post processing with digital files is the other main component that is almost as important as the shot itself.

Happy learning and enjoy your Nikon.

Welcome to Nikonites, from another Albertan AND Scottie! :) Now...since you said you have a hubby, shouldn't your name be Ladydaxter? ;) Just wondering. :)

So...where in Alberta are you (it's a big province), and...which camera do you have? What lens or lenses?

Thanks for all the welcomes, never thought of LadyDaxter lol!.....I have a connemara pony called LordDaxter, I use that name for everything, easy to remember lol!

The camera I have is the Nikon 1AW1, I have both the waterproof lenses and just got the 1 Nikkor 32 lens too, didn't manage to take too many pics yet as the camera battery compartment jammed shut after a few uses on vacation:(

On land pictures I tried before leaving were good, just struggling a bit finding best setting for underwater as in snorkelling, no diving, just got it right when the compartment seal jammed, typical!

Here are a couple pics, the first I took in my garden in fall, one of my first test photos, second at Lake Louise Jasper, both with the 10mm waterproof lens and on auto mode, have a lot to learn!
