Hi there guys.

After many months of reading this site, I have taken the plunge to join the community.

I would describe myself as a hobbyist. I have just upgraded from the D700 to the D7100.

I'm not afraid to ask questions - no matter how silly they seem to the more experience members.

Anyway. It's great to be aboard.

Welcome fro Cheshire.

Interesting you consider the 7100 an upgrade for the D700 is it the Mega Pixels or the DX sensor size that appeals to you

Ok, Not much of an upgrade, but in my opinion, an upgrade non-the-less. You're right - it was a bit of both, i,e pixels and sensor.

I try to keep up with newer models from anything that Nikon release to market (as long as I can afford it) I put about £30/month away in my camera savings pot - when a new model comes out, I sell my old camera and put the money from that and what I have saved through the year towards a nice new shiny bit of kit.

It never seems to stretch far enough for a D800 though!!
