I'm a new member in eastern Virginia. I'm just getting into DSLR photography with a D100. I'm mainly using a 55-300mm f4.5-5.6 ED VR lens. It's an outdated camera but works for my needs until I finish school and can upgrade.
However, at work I'm getting to do functionality testing on a D800E and an 3oom f2.8 and a 400mm f2.8 and I think I'm in love with them :).

Greetings! I'm a newbie to Nikonites and just bought a new D7000 today. I've been a long time amateur and decided to step up my game from an aging D100. I also shelled out for a new 50mm 1.4G. I'll now be saving my coins for a 300mm prime for serious sports shooting. My 35-70mm and 70-210mm are OK but I realize the prime lenses are better.
I live in the Charlottesville, VA area and love attending sporting events at University of Virginia.

I found the document explaining the autofocus options on the D7000. I look forward to digging in to explore the capabilities of this amazing piece of technology. I almost bought the D7100 but decided to save the $400 and put that to a new lens. This is a great site with lots of good info. I'll be lurking, searching and soaking it all in. Thanks!!

I'm doing the exact same thing, I figured the D7000 was tried and true and with the extra money have ordered the Nikon 16-85 and am hoping it's as awesome a combo as everyone has told me it would be.
