Moonrise, moonset, and the Milky Way

Hi,

Question: In case the nights are not no-moon, how much adversary effect can be on the MW image if shot before moonrise or after moonset? Assuming the moon phases are between half-moon to less.
Appreciate your help.

If the moon is below the horizon, you are good to go. Should be able to work for a bit with moon at a quarter and low on the horizon. You just give yourself more time to work if you are able to do the shoot near the new moon.

Thanks, BF. That is what I thought, expected, and planned to work next week at Sonora Pass, CA (Sierra MT). I had issues to schedule a no-moon trip, so seek such a time window (b4 moonrise) for MW shooting. GL to me.
