Aurora Borealis tonight in the USA

There's a possibility part of the US will be able to see a display of the Northern Lights tonight. Supposedly as far south as Virginia might catch a glimpse.

I'll be out there looking (and freezing). Back in the film days, a guy I worked with got some amazing pictures and he lived nearby. The space station is passing over my area tonight, so I'll be looking for that too.
I must have a really good camera.

The space station sounds interesting especially if you can incorporate it into a photo of the northern lights! Yes, it's been a rather cold start to spring. Bundle up! I know my fingers and toes got really cold being out a little over an hour the other morning. Are you in a hilly or mountainous area? It's even colder in those locations.

That would be cool, but the space station will be to the south this time. It might be coming too early, 7:56pm, probably not totally dark yet.
The mid-hudson valley in general can be windy. We are are about 60 miles up the river from nyc. We live on the south end of a good size lake, so tend to get a cold north wind through March.

If anybody is interested in the space station, you can track it here.

They will send an email 12 hours ahead with exact time and approximate location.

Here is my first attempt last summer. Totally bumbled my first couple shots and swung the tripod around real quick and caught it before it got away.

    No northern lights

Got the space station. 20 seconds at 17,150 mph, so about a 95 mile trail. Apparently I got Orion, Virgo, and Seven Sisters in the shot. No clue about that night sky stuff, somebody on FB told me.

I haven't seen any local posts about it either so I'm guessing no one saw it here. At least you were able to get the space station and some constellations.
