The Devil's Millhopper

The "Devil's Millhopper" is a natural, 120' deep limestone sinkhole here in Gainesville. The bottom remains dry for a good part of the year, but with the summer rains it floods with water. This image was taken with a 16mm full frame fisheye not long after the park opened. It does not open until 9am, which is very late, so you are unable to get the early morning light. Oh well. I have 5 weeks left here in Gainesville so I will re-photograph it before I leave, hopefully the water level in the bottom will be even higher by then. It has rained all weekend so I am sure it has gained a little bit.
