2017 chalk walk

For many years now, my city has held an annual Chalk Walk in conjunction with its festival. The Chalk Walk, a type of street art, consists of local artists of varying talent creating scenes with pastels on the street. Their "canvas" is a 4' x 4' or 8' x 8' spot on Main Street. Every one is encouraged to join in and participate. This is a crowd favorite and it draws upwards of 40,000 people every year. The weather this year was fantastic.......although, sadly, it rained cats and dogs the next day. A lot of hard work washed away. Here are some photos I took, shooting downward :playful:, of the event!

That's a pretty cool idea!

Some of those chalk works looked more like oil paintings!

It is a cool idea, borrowed from an Italian tradition of street painting that dates to the 16th century, known as i madonnari (street painters). I think different pastels can have different compositions.........dry to oily (?) I think LOL

Very cool Chris. Neat Comunity event. Great Job.

Thank you Dan. I just push a button on the camera (sometimes the wrong one:eek:)...........these people have got real talent! It was such a gorgeous day for it........the rest of the week hasn't been so kind for our 9 day festival, but hopefully that will change!
